Intro Serenity Lymphatic Therapy: What to Do After Your Session

Downtown Santa Monica (7th Street corridor near the Civic Center and Third Street Promenade)
If you loved that calm, clean, relaxing vibe that helps you unwind and leave feeling refreshed, keep the momentum going with one rule first: hydrate more than usual for the next 24 to 48 hours. After lymphatic system therapy, I want your body moving fluid through, not holding on to it. Drink water, keep things gentle, and give yourself a little buffer time before you head back out into Santa Monica.
First 24 to 48 hours: the do’s and don’ts that protect your lymphatic cleansing results
Your Intro Serenity Lymphatic Treatment is a 30-minute session designed to support circulation and gentle detoxification. Most people feel “lighter” after, especially if puffiness or fluid retention has been bothering them. What you do right after matters because lymphatic therapy mobilizes fluid, and I want that fluid to keep moving in the right direction.
My baseline aftercare: extra water, loose clothing, light walking, and no heat or heavy workouts for 24 to 48 hours.
- Hydrate right away. I generally recommend steady water intake the rest of the day, then keep it up through the next day. If you’re the type who “forgets to drink, ” set a reminder.
- Skip heat. Avoid hot baths, saunas, hot tubs, and anything that overheats you for 24 to 48 hours. Heat can increase swelling for some people.
- Keep movement gentle. Easy walking is great. If you’re heading toward the Third Street Promenade, plan a slower pace and give yourself 30 to 60 minutes after your appointment before you jump back into a long walk or transit.
- Hold off on alcohol. I generally recommend avoiding it for 24 to 48 hours. It tends to dehydrate you and can work against what we just did.
- Pause heavy lifting and intense cardio. Give your system a day or two. If you feel great, that’s awesome, but I still want you to keep it easy.
- Avoid compression garments unless I specifically tell you to use them. Lymphatic work and compression don’t always pair well if it’s not intentional.
Days 2 to 7: how to keep that “lighter” feeling without accidentally puffing back up
A lot of people book lymphatic therapy services because they want that refreshed, re-energized feeling to last, not just the first hour. During the first week, think simple: support your lymph flow, keep inflammation down, and don’t pile on stressors.
If you’re coming from Venice, Marina del Rey, Culver City, Brentwood, West LA, or the Palisades: I want you to factor in travel time and avoid a long, bumpy ride immediately after your session when you can. Give yourself a few quiet minutes before you head out.
- Keep walking. Short walks beat one big, exhausting workout while your body is still settling.
- Stay consistent with water. If you notice increased urination, that can be your body moving fluid through.
- Be smart with heat and sweat. If you’re craving an Infrared Sauna day, wait until you’re past that 24 to 48 hour window and you’re not feeling puffy or drained.
- Keep treated areas clean and dry. A gentle shower is fine. I generally recommend skipping prolonged soaking for about 24 hours if your tissue was worked deeply.
- Don’t “test” your limits. If you’re a surfer, a runner, or you bike everywhere, give yourself a clean day or two before you go hard again.
The simple habits that make Lymphatic Massage work harder for you
At Shapetress, Lymphatic Massage is here to help promote lymph flow and detoxification in the body, so you feel better in your body day to day. You don’t need a complicated routine after. You need a steady one.
Hydration plus minerals
If you’re drinking a lot more water than usual, adding electrolytes or mineral-rich options can help you feel steady instead of washed out. I’ll tell you if I want you to go heavier or lighter based on how you responded.
Loose clothing and easy circulation
Tight waistbands and restrictive shapewear can leave you feeling more congested. Think soft, breathable, and easy for a day.
If you’re stacking services, space them smart
If you’re building a plan, I’ll help you space sessions so you recover well and actually see the benefit.
What’s normal after lymphatic therapy, and when I want you to reach out
It’s common to feel relaxed after a session. Some people also notice they’re using the restroom more, or they feel a little tired later that day. Mild tenderness can happen. Mild bruising can happen too, depending on your body and how your tissue responds.
Reach out to me promptly if you have severe pain, spreading redness, fever, or unusual swelling that’s getting worse quickly. I’d always rather you check in than sit at home wondering.
If you’re in Downtown Santa Monica near the Civic Center or the 7th Street corridor, give yourself a few quiet minutes after your appointment before you head back into crowded sidewalks. And if you found me by searching “cryotherapy near me” or “body contouring clinic near me, ” you’re in the right place to ask bigger questions too. I’m happy to map out what fits your goals and your schedule, starting with what your body tells us after this first lymphatic session.

Quick note if you’re building a wellness plan at Shapetress
A lot of clients mix lymphatic therapy with other feel-good services because they like leaving refreshed and re-energized. If you’re doing slimming body work, cryo therapy, body contouring, or a session, I’ll tell you what to stack and what to separate so you don’t overdo it.
